  • The SAMFund for Young Adult Survivors of Cancer: The SAMFund is a unique non-profit organization created to assist young adult survivors of cancer with a successful transition into their post-treatment life, by providing financial support through the distribution of grants and scholarships.

Local Long-term Survivorship Programs

  • Children’s Hospital LIFE Survivorship Program: ”LIFE” stands for Long-term Information, Follow-up and Education. The LIFE Program was started in 1992 and is a key component of the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases. The main activity of the LIFE Program is to provide direct clinical care and support for childhood cancer survivors.
  • Disney Family Cancer Center Adolescent Young Adult Program: This AYA program addresses the unique needs of these adolescent and young adults including transition from pediatric health care setting to an adult health care setting, medical issues that may arise years after pediatric treatment such as fertility, insurance transitions, issues of survivorship and development of new treatment protocols to advance survival in this population and increase the body of knowledge.
  • UCLA’s Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center : Healthy Lives After Cancer: Healthy Lives After Cancer is a program dedicated to helping teen and young adult cancer survivors access survivorship information and resources available in the Los Angeles community.

Local Nonprofit Programs (not post-treatment specific)

  • Cancer Support Community: Nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free emotional support, education and hope for people with cancer and their loved ones. (West LA)
  • Elizabeth’s Canvas: We provide cancer patients and survivors with free art classes, instruction, and supplies. We also fund existing art programs that empower cancer patients and survivors through the artistic process. (Various Locations)
  • Los Angeles Breast Cancer Alliance Young Survivors Program: LABCA’s program dedicated to Young Survivors provides non-clinical support to promote healing and recovery for young women diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • weSPARK Cancer Support Center: A special place dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for cancer patients, their families and friends. weSPARK provides, free of charge, multiple services designed to heal the mind, body and spirit of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. (Sherman Oaks)

National Long-term Survivorship Programs

National Adventure Programs (not post-treatment specific)

  • Athletes for CancerAthletes 4 Cancer harnesses the healing power of the elements with the determination and tenacity of the human spirit to impact lives affected by cancer.
  • First Descents: First Descents offers young adult cancer fighters and survivors (ages 18 to 39) a free outdoor adventure experience designed to empower them to climb, paddle and surf beyond their diagnosis, defy their cancer, reclaim their lives and connect with others doing the same.

National Nonprofit Programs (not post-treatment specific)

  • CancerCare: CancerCare is a national nonprofit organization that provides free, professional support services for anyone affected by cancer, offering free short-term over the phone counseling for post-treatment survivors and an online post-treatment support group.
  • The Cancer Project: Nonprofit focused on advancing cancer prevention and survival through nutrition education and research
  • Cancer and Careers: Dedicated to empowering and educating people with cancer to thrive in their workplace by providing expert advice, interactive tools and educational events.
  • EmbodiWorks: EmbodiWorks is creating a better world by providing definitive, reliable educational resources and supporting advocacy focused on integrative cancer care to reduce cancer risk and improve cancer-related survival, quality of life, and whole person health care.
  • Fertile Hope: Fertile Hope is a LIVESTRONG initiative dedicated to providing reproductive information, support and hope to cancer patients and survivors whose medical treatments present the risk of infertility.
  • I’m Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation :: The Voice Of Young Adults: Founded by and for young adults affected by cancer, The I’m Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation is the nation’s largest support community for the next generation of patients, survivors and caregivers between 15-40.
  • Imerman Angels: 1-on-1 cancer support connecting cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers.
  • The Planet Cancer: A gathering place for young adults, includes cancer comics, advice, cancertainment, news, current research, and forums.
  • Young Survival Coalition: Young women facing breast cancer together.

Survivorship Apps

  • AYA Healthy Survivorship: AYA Healthy Survivorship is an interactive application (app) to assess your health habits and general sense of well being. The app offers personalized tips for being more active, eating better and living a longer, healthier life. Anyone can use it, but it is designed especially for adolescent and young adult cancer survivors ages 15-39.
